Morgantown Ice Arena had been the home to Morgantown Hockey Association for over 40 years.

The following Dominion Post article is from the WVU library's archives and features the rink's opening in November of 1979. Hockey enthusiasts in the region utilized the rink since it's inception and MHA became a recognized non-profit by 1981.
