Online registration begins on Tuesday, November 1, 2011 at 10 am exclusively at www.pittsburghpenguins.com/littlepenguins. Registration must be completed online – phone and/or registration at individual rinks will not be accepted.
Following the registration period, the kids will receive their equipment at Dick’s Sporting Goods stores. The on-ice programs will begin in January and February, and each program will offer between 8-10 on-ice sessions. The only cost involved is for ice time.
Please review the following suggestions prior to the start of registration on November 1:
. If your child does not know how to skate, we highly recommend that you sign up for a “Learn to Skate” class at your local rink. The Little Penguins program is designed to teach youth how to play the game of hockey - not how to skate. In order to receive the greatest benefit from the program, it is highly recommended that your child enter the program with some basic skating skills. A few skating lessons will go a long way toward increasing your child’s opportunity for learning how to play hockey!
. Parents will be required to complete an online “Little Penguins” registration form for a particular rink and a USA Hockey form to enroll in the program. Once both forms are completed, your child will be officially enrolled. Each participant must register with USA Hockey for insurance purposes.
Once you complete the first two steps, you will directed to an equipment/sizing order form. It is not necessary to complete the equipment sizing/order form immediately. We encourage you to complete the equipment/sizing order form when you have time to properly measure and record your child’s equipment needs. Please use the RBK SC 87 Equipment Sizing Chart to ensure your child receives equipment that fits.
Children who previously participated in the Little Penguins “Learn to Play Hockey” program are not eligible to participate in this season’s program.
