As we are winding down the current season, we are already starting to look forward to next season and all the great things our kids will accomplish on the ice. One of the first things we need to do in preparation for next season, is to elect the Executive Board who will provide guidance and leadership for the upcoming season. Our Executive Board is made up entirely of volunteers that come from our membership. These Board members volunteer their time not only in attending board meetings where they review and discuss the operations of Morgantown Hockey Association and any issues that come up throughout the season, they also volunteer their time to serve as Chairs on Committees, help with equipment handouts, assist with our Try Hockey Free events, Fundraising events, and much more.
Per our Bylaws, the Executive Board is made up of 16 members. We have the four officers (President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary) and 12 Directors. 8 of these Directors are Level Directors that represent the age groups for the teams that we field - Mini-Mite (6U), Mite (8U), Squirt (10U), Peewee (12U), Bantam (14U), Midget (16U/18U), High School (Middle School, JV, and Varsity), and Girls (all ages). The positions are all nominated by our membership and voted on. The remaining four positions (Referee Director, Coaching Director, SafeSport Coordinator, and Registrar) are elected by the Board. These members can be nominated by any MHA member, or can be someone who is affiliated with our organization but does not have a child that plays (i.e. Referee Director).
Our officers serve two year terms. The President and Treasurer position are elected on even numbered years and our Vice President and Secretary are elected on odd numbered years. This allows for continuity in leadership and good knowledge sharing when there are transitions in the role. This year we will be electing our Vice President and Secretary.
Our Directors serve one year terms. They will represent the age group that they have a player in for the upcoming season.
Nominations were collected for Board Positions from March 1st - March 15th. The nominees were contacted to see if they wanted to accept or decline the nomination, and those that accepted were given the opportunity to provide us with information about themselves to share with the membership to help them cast their votes.

Voting is open from now until March 25th. The results of the election will be announced at our annual meeting, which is tentatively planned for Tuesday, March 28th at 6:30pm.
Please note, that per our bylaws Each FAMILY is entitled to one vote PER CHILD that they have actively participating in MHA's programs. If both parents/guardians cast a vote for the same child, the first one will be counted and the second will be discarded.
