For those that are new this year and played in our Learn to Play, Little Penguins, or Skill Development programs, this is a great opportunity to take hockey to the next level by playing on our Blades Travel teams. All of our Blades teams from 8U - 18U play in the Pittsburgh Amateur Hockey League (PAHL) and play against other teams from the Pittsburgh region. 10U - 18U will play 20 games in the regular season (10 home and 10 away) and may be eligible for post season playoffs. 8U generally plays 5 - 10 Jamborees (cross ice style games) per season, with 5 at home and 5 away. Most teams also opt to play in tournaments throughout the season and these are a great opportunity for further player and team development. Our teams have played in tournaments in Pittsburgh, Columbus, Hershey, Buffalo, and Washington, DC, just to name a few. 

 

Our scholastic teams, the Morgantown Mohawks (Middle School, JV, and Varsity) play in the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Hockey League (PIHL) and are one of several co-op teams in the league. By being a co-op team, we are comprised of players from various schools (as opposed to a pure team that is comprised of players from a single school). The school districts that currently make up our co-op are listed below. Our JV and Varsity players must attend one of these schools, and our Middle School players must live in a school district that is served by one of these schools. Unfortunately, per P.I.H.L. rules, we are not able to add more schools to our co-op at this time. If your child does not attend one of these high schools, or you do not live in one of these school districts (Middle School only), and your child wishes to play, please contact us to discuss eligibility.

The registration and tryout process is to help in placing players on the appropriate team and PLAN for next season. It is essential that you submit your registration information and make every effort to attend the appropriate tryout session(s)!! Please note that registration for the 2023-2024 Learn-to-Play and Developmental House programs will open in August. You will need to complete the online registration by end of day, Wednesday, March 15th to avoid paying a $25 late registration fee! We are presently speculating that we will be fielding the following teams next season:

- Birth year 2015-2018: 8U Mites - 2 to 3 teams of approx. 10 -12 players each, most likely playing at the White (intermediate) and Blue (beginner) ADM divisions

- Birth year 2013 and 2014: 10U Squirts - 2 teams, each playing at their skill-appropriate division in PAHL

- Birth year 2011 and 2012: 12U Peewees - 2 teams, each playing at their skill-appropriate division in PAHL

- Birth year 2009 and 2010: 14U Bantams - 2 teams, each playing at their skill-appropriate division in PAHL

- Birth year 2005 - 2008: 16U or 18U Midgets, depending on how many players we have sign up for the teams. We will field the team that allows the most players possible to play

- Girls Teams: We are hoping to be able to field a 12U, 14U, and possibly 16U or 19U team for our girls divisions this year, and could even look at having an all girls 8U team. These teams will be finalized based on the number of participants that register and what will allow the most girls to play on teams. 

 

We will not be hosting a "tryout" for our 8U team this year due to the limited ice availability and having to travel for tryouts, but we ask that all players that are planning on playing on our 8U team, please register for tryouts so we know how many players we are expecting and can plan ice times and coaches accordingly. There is no cost to register for Tryouts for the 8U team.

6pm - 7:30pm - Middle School (Mohawks)

 

Wednesday, March 22nd:

5:30pm - 6:30pm - 14U Tryout

6:30pm - 8:00pm - 10U Tryout

8:30pm - 10:00pm - 12U Tryout

 

Thursday, March 23rd:

5:30pm - 6:30pm - 10U Tryout

6:30pm - 7:30pm - 12U Tryout

8:00pm - 9:30pm - 14U Tryout

 

You MUST be registered for tryouts to be able to attend and be on the ice. Registration is open now through March 15th. There is a $100 commitment fee that is charged to register for tryouts (excluding girls' teams and 8U). This fee will be refunded in the form of a credit to your 2023-2024 season registration fees if you accept an offer on a team within the "Commitment Deadline" window. If you decline your spot, or we do not field a team at that age group, your fee will be refunded in the form of a check mailed to you. After March 15th, a $25 late registration fee will be applied and is non-refundable.
