MHA and Ice Arena Updates

We're sure most of you have heard the news that the BOPARC board voted unanimously to reject the only bid for the ice arena project as it was over budget.

They also announced their plans to continue to work with Mylan Park and the City of Morgantown to work towards a solution regarding the community's needs regarding ice facilities. Unfortunately, we received final word from BOPARC this morning that due to previous staffing decisions, BOPARC does not have staff to run the ice arena for the remainder of the season and will be closing the ice rink on 2/26/23, as previously announced. We will continue to work with BOPARC to determine when the rink will open for next season.

MHA has secured ice at The Ice Mine in Connellsville, PA for the remainder of the season. Please look out for updated end of year practice schedules.

Tryouts will also be held at The Ice Mine, they are planned for the week of March 19th, more information and tryout registration information will be sent out soon.

Please remember that the Coaching application is live and anyone interested in volunteering as head coach or assistant coach for next season should complete the application.

Coaching evaluations will be sent out at the end of the month. Please take the time to complete an evaluation for the head coach and assistant coaches that worked with your team(s) this season.

If you have rental gear, please plan to return that to us during one of the following times:

Monday 2/20- 5-7:30pm

Wednesday 2/22- 5:30pm - 7:00pm

Saturday 2/25- 10:30am - 1pm

Please do not leave your rental equipment with the rink personnel or drop it off at the rink without giving it to one of the designated MHA Members. We will not be able to identify whose equipment was returned and it will not be updated on your rental agreement. If that happens, you could potentially be charged for equipment replacement fees. We will be collecting equipment by locker rooms 2 and 3. If you would like to keep your rental equipment over the summer for camps, summer leagues, etc., please email treasurer@morgantownhockey.com to make arrangements. If you are unable to make one of these times, please email secretary@morgantownhockey.com to schedule an alternative time.
