Little Penguins Learn to Play

Registration is now open for the 2022 Winter Session

Sidney Crosby's Little Penguins Learn to Play Hockey is an introductory program for children ages 5 to 9. The program aims to inspire families to join the sport. Little Penguins provides first-time participants FREE head-to-toe equipment, eight weeks of age appropriate on-ice instruction, and certified coaching in a fun and safe atmosphere. Little Penguins is presented by the NHL and NHLPA with the support of Crosby, the Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation, DICK'S Sporting Goods, CCM and USA Hockey.

  • Participants must be between 5 and 9 as of January 23rd, 2022.
  • Children who previously participated in the Little Penguins Learn to Play Hockey program, are not eligible to participate in the program again.

Sign-ups are already underway for the very successful “Little Penguins Learn to Play Hockey” program. . The cost is $190 and it includes brand-new, head-to-toe hockey equipment as well as 8 on-ice sessions beginning in January 2022 at the Morgantown Municipal Ice Arena.

This is a great deal and it is recommended that all who are new to hockey and eligible, consider participating in the program.

The sessions will be held on Sundays, January 23rd through March 13th, at 12:15PM - 1:15PM.

Registration is currently open and will close on December 12th, 2021.

*The informational website states, "Offered to new, first-time participants only. Participants must not have been previously registered with USA Hockey or participated in an ice hockey league/program.", and "If the host facility becomes aware that a registered child has previous hockey league/program experience, the child will be removed from the Little Penguins program.".  Please disregard this, as players currently participating in other MHA programs are eligible to participate in the Morgantown sessions.  Only those that have previously participated in the Crosby Learn to Play Program are not eligible to participate again.
