Learn to Play
Learn to Play will be held on 5 Sundays beginning on September 8th and running through October 6th. Our LTP program offers a low cost opportunity to try hockey before our Developmental House program begins in October 7th. For a fee of $50, all rental equipment will be provided, and 5 hours of ice time will be allotted. (Note: USA Hockey Registration is required as well, with those fees paid separately directly to USA Hockey. There is no fee charged for USA Hockey Registration for birth years 2013 and later, but registration is still required.) If you decide to continue into our Developmental House program, the $50 LTP fee can be applied towards the Developmental House fee / Season Equipment Rental fee.
We had quite a significant number of attendees last season, so to address this and prevent having 80+ skaters on the ice simultaneously we have decided to offer 2 sessions. Session 1 will be from 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM, and Session 2 will be from 12:10 PM - 1:10 PM.
To register, visit our Registration Page. You will first follow the link for the USA HOCKEY REGISTRATION. Once you have your USA Hockey Registration confirmation number, follow the link for the MHA ONLINE REGISTRATION. When you register, you will be able to select which session (11:00 AM or 12:10 PM) you wish to attend. Space is limited to 40 skaters per session. If you will need rental equipment, please also choose the "Equipment Rental - No Charge" option, so that we know that you will need equipment. (A date for equipment distribution will be provided soon.)
Once again, MHA is offering Developmental House Hockey based upon the child's skill level. Instead of basing the program solely on age, a few years ago MHA adopted a “Developmental” based method of providing local hockey opportunities to players of all ages and abilities. The program is based on the USA Hockey ADM Model that encourages all players to develop according to skill, with skill based sessions that utilize small area games and station based practice sessions to help all players develop basic skills needed for the sport of hockey. Again, this Developmental format utilizes skill groupings rather than age based groupings to help develop players of similar skill sets. This allows players who do not participate in travel hockey programs the opportunity to participate in an active role against players of similar skill sets rather than potentially being left out of various drills or game opportunities because a lack of experience as compared to players who have had the opportunity to play competitively for a number of years on a travel team. To register, visit our Registration Page. If you do not already have a USA Hockey Confirmation Number, you will first follow the link for the USA HOCKEY REGISTRATION. Once you have your USA Hockey Registration confirmation number, follow the link for the MHA ONLINE REGISTRATION. When you register, you will only need to select the Developmental House option. MHA's Player Development Committee will work to try and place each player into the appropriate skill group, based upon where they were last season (for returning players), and possibly by evaluation of players during our LTP sessions for those that participate in that offering. During the first couple of weeks of our Developmental House program, some players may be asked to move from one Level to another as deemed appropriate.
Note 1: For those that participated in our LTP program - If you utilized our no-charge equipment rental, do not purchase the $50 rental equipment option when registering for Developmental House. The $50 LTP fee will cover the equipment rental. For those that do not need rental equipment, a $50 refund will be issued after the season begins.
Note 2: For those participants who registered for Mite, Squirt, PeeWee or Girls Travel hockey - You will note that the Developmental House option was included/combined with your registration. Please do not register separately for Developmental House.
