Girl's Hockey Comes to Morgantown

MHA RECEIVES GRANT TO FOCUS ON GIRLS’ HOCKEY 

Morgantown Hockey Association has secured a $4000 grant from the Mid-American Hockey Association board in order to focus efforts on developing their girls’ hockey program. 

With this grant, MHA plans to increase enrollment by offering a “Learn to Play” program tailored to female athletes ages 18 and under.  This program will begin on August 31st and will be held at the Morgantown Ice Rink.  The "Learn to Play" program will be included in the registration for girls hockey and will run for 4 weeks prior to the start of the regular house season in October.

Currently MHA has 21 female players participating, all of which are under 14 years of age.  With initiatives focusing on girls, MHA expects that number to double next season!  There will be a girls only practice each week during the regular season (October to February) along with age appropriate participation in the house leagues. 

The grant will allow MHA to offer a discounted rate for females who sign-up for our girls program as outlined in the following table;

New MHA Web Site

Welcome to the new Morgantown Hockey Association Web Site!

As everyone who is familiar with the Morgantown Hockey Association has noticed, we updated the web site to reflect the new MHA colors (only about four years past due) and a new design.  This was due to a server malfunction a few weeks ago in which the server that our site is hosted on was completely revamped with a new operating system and updated software (again...long overdue).  As with any change things are not like they used to be, so please bear with us as we get things moved around as needed.

Some of the features you will see that have been added is an updated Schedule look and functionality. These include:

•  Updated Registered User Area
• RSS Feeds for updated content
•  Mailing List feature available to Registered Users
• Online Polls
• Eventually a better general layout and navigation.

Things that are on the horizon include an FAQ area, better integration with online player registration, etc.
